Grammar Focus

Going to + infinitive for future plans

Use 'am/is/are going to' followed by the base verb to talk about plans or intentions for the future.

I am going to visit my sister next weekend.

She is going to start a new job in January.

They are going to travel to Japan next summer.

We are not going to be here next week.

In Portugal, they are going to visit Lisbon and the Algarve. They are going to eat fresh seafood and relax on the beach. Emma is also going to take a Portuguese language class before the trip. She says: 'This is going to be the best holiday ever!'
