A Busy Weekend

Last weekend, my friend Tomás and I visited a food market in the city centre. We arrived at eleven and stayed for three hours. I tasted different cheeses and Tomás tried spicy noodles. We walked along the canal afterwards and stopped at a coffee shop. In the evening, we watched a documentary about deep-sea fish. It was a simple but enjoyable day. I always feel better after a weekend like that.

1. Where did Tomás and the writer go on the weekend?

2. What did they do after the market?

Discuss these questions with a partner or your teacher.

1Tell your partner about something you did last weekend. Use at least three past tense verbs.
2Ask your partner: 'Did you cook anything last week?' and 'What did you enjoy most about the weekend?'

Write a short paragraph (4–6 sentences) about what you did yesterday. Use regular past tense verbs.

Example: Yesterday I woke up late and missed breakfast. I walked to the library and studied for two hours. In the afternoon, I visited a friend and we talked for a long time. In the evening, I watched a series on my laptop.
