How much is / How much are

Use 'How much is' for one item and 'How much are' for more than one item.

How much is this jacket?

How much are these shoes?

It is twenty euros.

They are fifteen euros.

At the Market

Sara is at the market. She wants to buy some fruit. She asks the seller: 'How much are the oranges?' The seller says: 'They are two euros a kilo.' Sara buys one kilo. She pays with a five euro note. The seller gives her three euros change and a receipt. Sara is happy. The fruit is fresh and cheap. She loves shopping at the market.

2Role-play: one person is the shop assistant, one is the customer. Buy something and ask for the price.
